Bought a new phone
a set of two
a station on my desk
you know the way.
The other satelite ?
where the hell to put it
They took seven hours to charge
three weeks to enter all my friends
nearly sent it back
but lost the packaging
made today from corn starch
degradable in three weeks!
my mobile was only half the trouble.
Now I wait for friends to call
not a bell all day
when it rang on Tuesday
didn't recognise the tone
they didn't leave a message
IT could have been the gas
BT or the 'lectric,
someone selling glazing
in dulcet erotic persuasions
I fall for every time.
Going for a walk in Wales this afternoon,
inlaws tonight for supper,
then home and one five seven one
to make it all worthwhile.

I need a new phone with another handset as I often can't manage to get to the one phone in time. I wish it would ring for one or two more times than the phone will allow. I've yet to find out the French equivalent to "1471"

I find 1471 and1571 useful. I do not use an answer phone ..I don't wish to help cold callers with my identity who phone know me ! -
Ionly use 1471 and 1571 I think answer machines give too much help to cold callers as far as I am concerned its ring me know me.-

I've got a cordless phone, one station only (I live in a doll's house so that's okay) but I take it with me when I'm around the house. It has a pager on the station so it has to tell me where I am if it mislays itself.
You're right about the selling - I used to sell double glazing by phone (blushes furiously) and we weren't allowed more than five rings; if they didn't answer we had to hang up. unless you have a voice filter, a good way to avoid those calls is to pick up only after the fifth ring.

I have two cordless phones but usually leave them on their charging stations now I have a second I can carry it around ....if I remember that is !
Nice to know about the five rings..If I do not recognise a number I do not answer..if they then do not leave a message I do not pick up the phone.

I do not like cold callers either but then I suppose they need to sell there products.my phone is nicely sorted thankyou -

It took me two nights to sort out the instructions was on the piont of writing letters before it all clicked.You have always checked my grammar and sintax will rewrite " going round to my inlaws to have supper..is that better ? X X X-

All this modern technology is a devil to get up and running properly, but good to have once it's working properly. I find it a real blessing having a cordless phone - I can take it with me into the garden in the summer so I don't have to traipse dirt into the house when it rings when I'm in the middle of digging
